The domain ZEROfaçade.com was first registered by Krista at register.com on July 31st, 2003.

After running several websites online, both through free services like Geocities and Angelfire, as well as under friends' kindly provided hosting (ie. Red-Preistess.com and KittenHead.net), I felt it was time for me to get a domain to call my own.

The creation of the name didn't come easy. I started brewing up different names, all that would mean something to me, which I prayed weren't taken already during this big 'domain boom' on the internet. Everything I had wanted was already taken, or too much money through the registrar, sadly. I decided to go with a name that would have a meaning for me, that most would be oblivious to use on their own.

ZERO comes from an old RPG term I used to use with my friends, which also has a link to the anime Gundam Wing: To go "ZERO," or to go mad. To lose one's self in an act of violence or desperation.

Facade (façade) comes from a quote I used to have on my old blog Sacrifice; "Putting on my daily façade." This term is actually a lyric pulled from a Linkin Park song, "By Myself." Being the angsty little teen that I was, I adored this band during their hype of the early 2000's. I felt a relation in those words and it struck me deeply, thus using it as my header.

At this time in my life, as most children feel in high school, I felt like I was always putting on a mask - a front, a façade in front of the people in order to protect myself. I wore happy smiles and kept everybody's spirits up, when inside I felt like I was on a path of self-destruction.

Weak? Perhaps. But I've grown since then. I don't feel like I need such a mask anymore, to shield myself from the scrutiny of others. And perhaps that's why I kept the domain name. It can be taken as another term all-together:

Zero Façade - No Mask. No isolation. No longer hiding my true self.

I've used the domain for many things: school-work and projects, to post artwork, stories, blogs, music, podcasts, videos, and to host others. I'm surprised at how many others I've come to host, actually. I never thought my website would become so popular. People have come and gone, but they're forever etched into Zf's archived history.

As we are now in our second decade, serving no less than fifteen years already on the internet, I am hoping to add new and interesting content to our collective, and I hope you'll join in on the fun and add your creativity!
